Board Information

Started in 1967 as the Choctaw Nation Multi-County Library System, the Southeastern Public Library System of Oklahoma is financed by a combination of county ad valorem taxes, state aid and other grant funds, Miscellaneous operating revenues, and in-kind support (library buildings and maintenance) provided by each of its library communities. Additional support is provided by local library friends organizations.

Governance and policy direction are provided by the Board of Trustees, constituted of one representative appointed by each of the seven counties and one representative appointed by each of 14 cities in accordance with 65 O.S. Supp. 1998 § 4-103.

The Southeastern Public Library System of Oklahoma strives to be the place where people explore yesterday's heritage, today's information, and tomorrow's dreams.

As the Southeastern Public Library System of Oklahoma, we strive to identify, select, organize, retrieve, disseminate, and make accessible the record of human thought and experience; and through its facilities, materials, and resources, will provide a comfortable and non-judgmental atmosphere conducive to informational, recreational, educational, and cultural pursuits by the people of its area.
